Teach Computer Science? Get In On Our Textbook Hack-a-thon.

Feb 13

We’re hacking the Computer Science textbook for Open Education Week. Are you game?

Top CS thinkers in the Boston area will be gathering to improve open content.
One team. Creating one computer science textbook. Here’s what we have in mind:

You may be familiar with Hack-a-Thon events or development sprints. A Content Sprint is similar in spirit. We’re calling this a Meetup so we all can meet each other and lay out a plan for effective curation and quality content development. Great computer science minds + the world’s largest publisher of open-license college textbooks = a groovy kind of love. We’ll provide the burritos and Red Bull.

This event is happening March 8, 2012 at the WorkBar in downtown Boston, MA.

This meetup is for you if:

  1. You’d like a solid, consistent open textbook for your Intro CS course.
  2. You’ve used open resources in your course before.
  3. You teach Intro CS and think textbooks are too expensive.
  4. You can improve upon the open content that’s out there.
